Is Glycerin Good?

Is Glycerin Good?

Glycerin is a humectant, which means it has the property of attracting water to itself.  It is a moisturizer that can attract water from the deeper skin layers or even the air to moisturize the outer layer of your skin.  Bottom line – It is a moisturizer that actually attracts more moisture and helps slow the evaporation of water from your skin.

As glycerin is a natural by-product of the soap making process, all our handmade soaps have glycerin in them.  In fact, our soaps are so high in glycerin that occasionally you can actually see it in the soap.  It will create a marble effect in the appearance of the soap, and is clear or transparent.  We call this clear marbling “glycerin rivers”.  If you receive a soap with glycerin rivers, consider yourself lucky!
