A twelve-ounce jar is most often used completely, well before any worry about how long the product will last. We urge all our clients to use a scoop, or otherwise dispense the product with dry hands to avoid getting water in the container and keeping the lid on at all other times. Contamination with water or anything else can potentially cause premature bacteria growth.

Can I bathe with salt water everyday?

In everyday use, salts help to balance and maintain vital skin function. Dead Sea salts, with their high concentration of natural minerals, thoroughly hydrate the skin helping to alleviate dry skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis. Dryness can result in overuse, however, so we recommend beginning this process slowly, and adding additional soaks as individual results/desire allows.

Can I use your salve on other parts of my body, or is it just for use on hands, feet?

You can use our salves on any body part that needs some extra nourishment. We use it on our hands, feet, elbows, and any other rough, dry, hard-working skin. As a reminder, our products are for external use only.

Can you use lotion after salt/soak?

We recommend not using a body lotion for at least 20 minutes after you soak, as you may continue to sweat even after the bath. If so, this is just your body continuing to detox after the bath and release toxins stored in your fat cells. After 20 minutes, resuming your normal skincare regiment is advised.

Can you use sugar scrub on your private area?

Exfoliating can be helpful when it comes to preventing hair removal-related problems, but since the bikini area is so sensitive, you should be picky with your exfoliant. Sugar scrubs tend to be less abrasive than many other scrubs because the granules are round and smaller, but may still be too harsh for these sensitive areas of your body.

Can your salves help heal Eczema and Psoriasis?

Like all natural product lines, our products are not medicinal in nature according to the definition in law, or are they clinically proven drugs. They represent traditional remedies that utilize natural ingredients to help your body's ability to heal itself. Though we’ve had many clients report that our salves have helped to soothe their skin from the discomforts of many skin conditions, including eczema and psoriasis, we are not permitted by law to say definitively that it helps heal these conditions, as they have not been specifically evaluated by the FDA.

Before getting into your bath, make sure that all the salt has dissolved so that it can be more easily absorbed into your skin. Any salt not dissolved in the water may dry on your skin as an opaque white powder. Excess salt is harmless and is easily rinsed off. By preference, some clients wait to shower/rinse for a period of time, to allow the salt to draw harmful toxins and metals out of the body, relieve muscle aches and pains, and alkalize the skin.

Does your soap contain glycerin?

Yes! Glycerin is a natural byproduct of the saponification of the oils we use to make our soap, so it is a natural part of all our soaps. Our soaps qualify as glycerin soaps because glycerin accounts for nearly 10% of the final bar of soap. In fact, commercial soap makers will remove this naturally occurring by-product, and replace it with chemical surfactants, and synthetic moisturizers, because they’ll re-use the natural glycerin in only their premium products.

Many dermatologists and skin care experts recommend using a moisturizer right after showering or bathing, to lock in water left on the body and use it to hydrate skin throughout the day. Like any lotion, lotion sticks are also an important go-to skin care product any time skin feels dry, cracked, or irritated.

You bet; there are germs everywhere if you really want to get technical, but it's very unlikely they will make you sick or cause a skin infection. Misinformation has been circulating the internet for years that body wash is more “clean” than bar soap, which is simply false. If you are sharing the bar with spouse or kids, you need not worry yourself about germs, since you probably share many of the very same microorganisms anyway. But if it concerns you, simply rinse the bar before use. It is, after all, soap and will clean itself! No matter what, there have been no detectable levels of bacteria left on the skin's surface after using a bar of soap.

Why when I receive my lotion stick during humid weather conditions, the top of the product seems damp. Should I still use it?

Don’t worry! If that is the case, just keep in mind that the natural ingredients are designed to come together to attract and maintain moisture. A “humectant” ingredient is something that readily absorbs moisture from its surroundings. If during delivery it’s been exceedingly warm and humid out, any dampness you witness is moisture from the air that the product has attracted, not moisture coming from inside of it. There is nothing wrong with your lotion stick. It’s just natural ingredients doing their job!

Why when I receive my soaps during humid weather conditions, some of the soaps and wrappers may be damp or wrinkled from the natural “sweat” of the soaps; Why is my soap wet in the packaging/ why does soap sweat?

A quality bar of handmade soap will often “sweat” in humid weather due to the high content of natural humectants. A humectant is a substance that readily absorbs moisture from its surroundings. When natural soap sits out in humid conditions, the glycerin in the soap will draw the moisture out of the air and onto the soap. So the sweating is actually moisture from the air that the glycerin attracts, not moisture coming from inside the soap. The more humid the environment and the more humectants in the soap, the more likely you’ll experience this phenomenon; There is nothing wrong with your soap, it’s just the glycerin and other natural humectants doing their job.
